ARTS CREATED TOGETHER (ACT)
Arts Created Together (ACT) is a town-wide program that is designed to enhance the education of Lexington’s elementary students. ACT utilizes PTO funds to bring arts related programs that enrich the curriculum to the Fiske community. Working with classroom teachers and the Principal, volunteer parents coordinate arts related programs for each grade during the school year. In addition to the grade level programs, ACT sponsors dynamic programs for the all-school audience. These programs reach and benefit every single Fiske student and are funded by donations to the Fiske PTO.
In 2014, Fiske hosted Giles Laroche as part of the Arts Created Together (ACT) Artist-in-Residence Program. Mr. Laroche's artistic interests span from book illustrations, paper cutting and fine art. Some of Giles Laroche's artwork is on display at the Fiske Main Office, and his books are available in the Fiske Library. For more information, visit gileslaroche.com.
Mr. Laroche worked with students during their art classes on six separate pieces (one per grade) within the theme of North America. The children created paper cutting projects which Mr. Laroche that were assembled in one bigger collage per grade to be displayed in the school as a permanent piece of artwork.
