AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING PARENT VOLUNTEERS TO LEAD OUR AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

The Fiske PTO is offering a new series of after-school Enrichment Classes for students in Grades K - 5.    Classes are run in various sessions and the subjects vary with each session.  The classes meet after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays at Fiske Elementary School. 

Classes are taught in partnership with local professional companies. The Fiske PTO is underwriting 25% of tuition costs for classes offered during this reducing the cost for your Fiske student. Listed prices reflect this discount.  During payment, each class is subject to $5 per class space rental fee.

Fiske PTO is offering a new series of fall after school enrichment classes.  Classes will will be announced through in-backpack flyers and through the PTO newsletter.  Class are after school for approximately 8 weeks typically on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays at Fiske.  

THE CLASS SCHEDULE WILL BE SET BY THE PTO AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE PRIOR TO REGISTRATION

The Fiske PTO will be underwriting 25% of tuition costs in an effort to help make classes more affordable for all Fiske families.   However, this year we are offering the opportunity, for interested families, to donate back their tuition subsidy, which will greatly help us defray our rising costs, which include;

·      Room Rental & Town fees

·      Fingerprinting & CORI Form fees

·      Increased Tuition costs

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Online registration and payment will begin at 7:00 pm on the designated dateClasses will be registered on a first come, first served basis.  All classes do fill quickly. 

 

PARENT VOLUNTEERS WILL BE NEEDED

We are looking for 3 parent volunteers per day to help us manage the each Enrichment session – 3 to serve every Monday that classes are in session, 3 to serve every Tuesday, etc.  The role of a parent volunteer is to:

  • Take attendance at the start of class, and confirm all children are where they are supposed to be
  • Observe and support instructors, as needed
  • Be on site at Fiske while classes are in session, in case of emergency
  • Manage end of the day student dismissals

Parents who volunteer for a specific day will be guaranteed a spot for their child(ren) on that day.  If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, please contact the Fiske Enrichment Team (fiskeenrichment@gmail.com) ASAP.

MONDAYS

Kids Cooking Green     Grades K-2   (16 student limit)

3:20 – 4:20 pm

Tuition: $113 (subsidized) / $150 (non-subsidized)

Join us in our classroom kitchen and make some delicious after school treats.  On the menu...Green Eggs, Too Many Pumpkins!, Cinnamon, Spice, and Everything Nice, Noodles, Noodles; and Bee-licious!   All recipes are nut free, vegetarian, and delicious.

ArtMobile      Grades 3-5   (12 student limit)

3:20 – 4:20 pm

Tuition: $131 (subsidized) / $175 (non-subsidized)

Climb aboard & explore your creative side on The ArtMobile, an art classroom inside a truck! Each week we will work with a different medium including clay, paint, decoupage, collage mirrors, tie dye t-shirts and much more. Your child will have fun, play with new materials, & create something unique to bring home after each class.

Game Making and Storytelling with Scratch             Grades: 3-5   (12 student limit)

3:20 – 4:20 pm

Tuition: $138 (subsidized) / $184 (non-subsidized)

Build mazes for friends to navigate, obstacles for your hero to avoid! Students learn how to create their own interactive animated stories & games by snapping software blocks together using Scratch. It teaches basic computer skills, mathematics, computation, creativity, systematic reasoning & team collaboration.

TUESDAYS

Improv with KIDSTOCK!             Grades 3-5   (16 student limit)

3:20 – 4:20 pm

Tuition: $94 (subsidized) / $125 (non-subsidized)

This improv class offers kids the chance to develop the basic skills of public speaking by working in cast teams on new drama challenges each week, leading up to a dramatic “RIFF OFF’ presented by the students on the last day of class. 

Young Inventor’s Squad with Einstein’s Workshop     Grades 1-3 (12 student limit)

3:20 – 4:20 pm

Tuition: $138 (subsidized) / $184 (non-subsidized)

Build & re­engineer components of everyday objects & recycled materials into cool gadgets! Activities such as building balloon­powered cars and mini catapults help develop a working knowledge of physics concepts & engineering skills.

WEDNESDAYS

Intro to Spanish with ABC Spanish in Motion     Grades K-2 (10 student limit)

3:20 – 4:20 pm

Tuition: $94 (subsidized) / $125 (non-subsidized)

Through music, arts & crafts, story telling, & games, kids are exposed to dynamic Latin American rhythms that cultivate & promote sensitivity & curiosity while having fun learning.  

Playmakers with KIDSTOCK!      Grades K-2   (16 student limit)

October 14 – December 16,  (no class on 11/11 or 11/25), 3:30 – 4:30 pm

3:20 – 4:20 pm

This exciting introduction to the world of the stage & theater performance uses popular children’s books as the “script” for each week’s interactive “playdates”, culminating in a final performance for parents & friends. 

App Design with Empow Studios              Grades 3-5   (12 student limit)

Ever wonder how apps for Droid tablets and phones are made? Using MIT’s App Inventor, students will learn to program an app from start to finish. Tablets will be provided or students can bring their own.
